Koh Phangan Activities - Island Safari Eco-Tours & Elephant Trekking

There is a great and safe way to see Koh Phangan safely due to our mountainous and poor roads - the Island Safari Jeep Eco-Tour! 

The full day Safari Adventure tour includes snorkelling, viewpoints, jungle interior, Phaeng waterfall, the amazing chinese temple and elephant riding. You will also have a fantastic Thai set-lunch at one of the best locations on the island so don't forget your camera!  Insurance is also included on this trip!

You will travel throughout Koh Phangan on decent roads in the back of a jeep or pick up truck!  You will be entertained along the way by the english speaking tour guide who will point out interestings things on the island.

There are three safari options: 

The Full day Safari Adventure Tour is great value and the best way to see our beautiful island properly (as detailed above).  The full day tour departs at approximately 0900am and returns around 1600pm. 

The half day Safari Adventure tour that depart at 0900am and return approximately 1400pm.  The half day tour includes Phaeng waterfall, Chinese Temple, elephant riding and a Thai set lunch. 

The 'All in One Adventure' is the only tour covering both the west and east coasts by both boat and car and includes elephant riding, chinese temple, snorkelling and a boat trip to the beautiful Than Sadet Beach, King Rama 5th Rock & Than Sadet Waterfall (on the east coast) -  The tour departs at approximately 0900am and returns around 1600pm.  (but it is dependent upon season - Oct to Nov often this tour is replaced by Full Day Adventure tour).

 If you are just looking to do Elephant trekking then on the edge of the jungle, there is a traditional Thai elephant trekking operation. There are a number of  large beautiful Indian Asian elephants which take you up into the jungle and hilltops to get amazing views of the North of Koh Phangan. There also a few other animal surprises when you arrive there!!

There are bananas to buy to feed the elephants for that great 'photo moment' and the whole experience will leave you feeling warmth towards these amazing creatures. The elephants are treated with kindness by their trainers who have been with them since they were born and spend all their time together! you will sit on the back of the elephant on a specially made chair whilst the elephant trainer (Mahoot) will sit on his neck.  Do not be offended if you see him use a stick with a hook on the end - this is the normal training tool that Mahoot (owner) uses. Also be aware that the elephants have over 10,000 meters of land to enjoy when they are not on safari plus a large watering hole!  In Thailand elephants are treated with the highest respect as they are revered for their strength and the Thai Government has a law that any mistreatment of elephants can put the perpetrator in jail for upto 30 years! So you can enjoy your day without having to worry about the elephants!

The mainland Asian elephant makes up the bulk of the Asian elephant population. Numbering approximately 36,000 across Asia, these elephants are light gray in colour, with depigmentation only on the ears and trunk. Large males will ordinarily weigh only about 11,000 pounds. The mainland Asian can be found in 12 Asian countries, from India to Indonesia. It prefers forested areas and transitional zones, between forests and grasslands, where greater food variety is available.

Should you wish just to do an elephant trek rather than having a go on the Island Safari tour then times start at 1000am and finish 1500pm but you need to book your time slot!

If you are looking for a full day Island Eco-safari Tour on Koh Phangan then this too includes elephant trekking and is definitely the best way to see the island!  It not only includes elephant trekking but also snorkeling at the coral reefs of Koh ma as well as jungle walking, waterfalls, temples and meals as previously mentioned.
