Koh Jum to Trang
Trang City is the capital of Trang Province in southern Thailand. It is located about 839 kilometers south of Bangkok. The city is a gateway to the many islands and national parks in the province, including Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe, and Koh Jum. If you are traveling from the island of Koh Jum to Trang, the distance is around 75 kilometers. Since Koh Jum is an island, all the travel options include a ferry or a speedboat. You have two options: taking a private transfer (which includes a longtail boat and a taxi) or traveling by ferry/speedboat and van via Koh Lanta. Below, we will describe both options, list the schedules, and travel tips.
Koh Jum to Trang by Taxi
- Price: from 4,237 THB
- Transport type: economy/van and longtail boat
- Companies: King Travel
- Travel time: 3 hours
The first travel option is one combo ticket which includes a private transfer from Koh Jum to Trang. It includes a taxi transfer and a longtail boat trip. For a taxi, you can choose either an economy car (it can fit up to 3 people) or a van (can fit up to 9 people).
Even though it takes around 3 hours in total, private transfer is still the fastest travel option, because all the transfers are taken care of. You don’t have to worry about making the connection or checking in for the next transport. A taxi can also bring you to the Trang Airport if that’s where you’re flying from.
There is also no scheduled departure time because you book the whole vehicle and can choose when to leave.
Koh Jum to Trang by Ferry/Speedboat and Van via Koh Lanta
- Price: 600 + 400 THB
- Transport type: ferry/speedboat + van
- Companies: Lanta Super Concord Tour, Tigerline Travel, Lanta Transport
- Travel time: 3.5 – 4 hours
The second travel option is a self-connecting trip via Koh Lanta.
The first step of the journey is taking a ferry or a speedboat from Koh Jum Pier to Saladan Pier in Koh Lanta.
Here’s the schedule of available ferries:
Koh Jum | Koh Lanta | Transport Company | Type |
9:30 | 10:00 | Tigerline Travel | Speedboat |
12:15 | 12:30 | Tigerline Travel | Speedboat |
12:15 | 13:00 | Lanta Super Concord Tour | Ferry |
The ferry duration is around 45 minutes, and the speedboat takes just below 30 minutes.
This part of the journey costs 600-800 baht, with speedboats being more expensive.
The second part of the journey is taking a van from the Lanta Transport Office (it is located just a few hundred meters from Salandan Pier, so it’s very easy to connect).
Vans depart from Koh Lanta twice daily – at 8 am and at 12:00. You have two arrival options in Trang – Trang Bus Terminal and Trang Airport. The duration of this journey is approximately 2.5 – 3 hours.
Here’s the van departure schedule:
