Ao Nang to Koh Libong

Koh Libong is an unspoilt island located in the southern part of Thailand, in Kantang District of the Trang Province. It is one of the larger islands in the Trang Archipelago. It is tranquil and less touristy compared to some other destinations in Thailand like Phuket or Krabi, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful vacation. If you’re traveling from Krabi, there are a few options to get from Ao Nang to Koh Libong. The distance between Ao Nang to Koh Libong is approximately 120 kilometers (about 75 miles) when traveled by a combination of road and boat. Below, we will describe how to get to Koh Libong by speedboat directly from the pier or with a taxi pickup in Ao Nang.

Ao Nang to Koh Libong by Speedboat

  • Price: 1,950 THB
  • Transport type: speedboat
  • Companies: Tigerline Travel
  • Travel time: 4.5 hours

Tigerline is currently the only company that operates speedboat service to the Koh Libong. To get there, you can book a join ticket that includes two speedboat rides. All the transfers are guaranteed by the operator, so no need to worry. The whole ride costs of two parts:

  1. A speedboat ride from the Floating Pier East Railay to Saladan Pier in Koh Lanta. This section takes 2 hours and 15 minutes.
  2. A speedboat ride from Saladan Pier in Koh Lanta to Koh Libong. This trip takes 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The price of the whole trip is 1,950 THB per person, and the journey takes around 4.5 hours, including a transfer (30 min in Koh Lanta).

Speedboat rides are fast, and fun. However, you may get wet because of the occasional splashes, and we recommend taking some sea sickness pills/plaster if you’re prone to seasickness. Also, wearing life jackets is a must during the entire crossing, because the Andaman Sea can get rough at times, with dangerously high waves.
