Koh Samet to Bangkok

Are you planning to go from the quaint island and beaches of Koh Samet to Bangkok? This guide explains exactly how to get to Bangkok, what transport options you have, and how much they cost.

Koh Samet to Bangkok by Ferry and Bus Combo

  • Price: 360 THB
  • Transport type: ferry + bus
  • Companies: Phittinin Transport, PN Group, and Nuanthip
  • Travel time: 4 hours

The easiest way to get from Koh Samet to Bangkok is by taking a bus and ferry combo trip.

Luckily, you don’t have to book the two journey legs separately. There are a few companies that provide joint tickets. All you have to do is arrive at the pier in Koh Samet, and the company will take it from there, guarantee all the connections, and bring you to the station in Bangkok.

The whole joint journey will take around 4 hours, including the transfer from the ferry to the bus.

There are 11 options and departures to choose from. The companies working on this route are Phittinin Transport (in cooperation with Tawan Tour Speedboat), PN Group, and Nuanthip.

Ticket prices are around 360-450 THB, depending on the company.

In Koh Samet, all the ferries depart from the Nadan Pier, located on the north of the island.

Since boats taking you from the islands are small (speedboats), luggage allowance per person is limited. Most companies allow just 1 hand luggage and 1 suitcase of up to 20 kg.

We also advise arriving at the pier 30 min before the departure so that you have time to check in and find the boat without stress.

Like all the other speedboat riders, a trip from Koh Samet can be a little bumpy, so prepare sea sickness pills just in case.

Koh Samet to Bangkok by Taxi

  • Price: 5,060 THB
  • Transport type: taxi
  • Companies: Kim Transfers Thailand
  • Travel time: 2.5 hours

The second option is not as popular as traveling by ferry and bus, but it’s also worth a mention. If you’re looking for extra comfort, or travel with small kids/the elderly, a private transfer to Bangkok is the best option.

The price of such a trip starts at 5,060 THB per car, and you can also choose what kind of car suits you – economy, SUV, or a van.

A taxi trip (with the ferry included) takes around 2.5 hours in total.
