Sukhothai to Bangkok

While Sukhothai has its own unique charm and lots of things to do, Bangkok is an entirely different experience that’s definitely worth exploring. Bangkok is a bustling city that’s bursting at the seams with life, culture, and history. Need to know how to get to the capital from Sukhothai? Traveling can be a hassle, especially when it involves switching from one mode of transportation to another. If you’re planning a trip from Sukhothai to Bangkok, you’re in luck as there are four options available: bus, flight, taxi, and taxi plus train. In this blog post, we’ll go over the different ways to travel and the tips for each method.

Option 1: Sukhothai to Bangkok by Flight

Flying is the fastest way to travel from Sukhothai to Bangkok. Bangkok Air offers two daily flights, one in the morning at 8:50 and the other in the evening at 17:50. The flight lasts only 1 hour and 20 minutes and costs around 2,000 THB.

The Sukhothai airport is located around 30 km north of New Sukhothai, so you’ll need to find transportation to get there. Luckily, Bangkok Air offers a shuttle service for a fee.

The flight arrives at the BKK Suvarnabhumi Airport. If you’re looking for a quick and comfortable travel option and don’t mind paying a little extra, flying is your best bet.

Option 2: Sukhothai to Bangkok by Bus

If you’re on a budget and not in a hurry, taking a bus is a good option. Two companies, Phitsanulok Tour and Transport Co, offer four daily departures from Sukhothai to Bangkok. The journey takes around 8 hours and costs around 440 THB.

The bus has one stop for food and toilets, and there is also a toilet on board (although taking some sanitizer and your own paper is a good idea).

In Bangkok, all the buses arrive at the Morchit bus terminal. Although it’s not the most comfortable option, taking a bus is budget-friendly.

Option 3: Sukhothai to Bangkok by Taxi

For those who want to travel in comfort and convenience, or want a door-to-door service, a private taxi is the way to go. Glassflower, BangkokTaxi24, and Thailand Limo by Datum are recommended taxi companies for this journey, you can find them and many other taxis at 12go.

Taking a private taxi will cost around 5,830 THB per car and will take around 5.5 hours. You’ll get to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery as you make your way to Bangkok.

Option 4: Sukhothai to Bangkok by Taxi and Train

While not the most efficient or convenient option, you can take a taxi from Sukhothai to Phitsanulok, then take a train to Bangkok. This option will take around 8 hours and cost around 2,500 THB. There used to be a bus instead of a taxi, but unfortunately, this route has been suspended indefinitely.

We don’t recommend this option as it’s more expensive and time-consuming than other options.
