The most straightforward and popular to get from Bangkok to Bangkok to Chiang Khong is by bus. Luckily, there are 7 daily departures by a few companies: Sombat Tour, Bangkok Busline, and Transport Co.

The price for the bus tickets varies by company and bus type, with the cheapest ticket around 791 THB, and the most expensive around 1,235 THB.
This route may sell out fast, so we recommend booking tickets at least a few days in advance before your trip.

Once you’ve arrived in Chiang Rai, you can take a bus from Chiang Rai Bus Station 1 directly to Chiang Khong. Buses are easy to locate since they are organized by destination and signs will be posted at the front of each one. The trip last 2 hours and tickets cost 65 Baht per person. Buses run between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM daily so you should have plenty of time to reach your destination.
