Bundhaya Speed Boat Speedboats
When you book a trip ride with Bundhaya Speed Boat, you’ll notice they have a few different speedboats. They come in various sizes and types.
You’ll find two main types of speedboats: the Speedboat 3-engines and the Speedboat 4-engines. The Speedboat 3-engines can comfortably accommodate up to 45 passengers, while the Speedboat 4-engines can carry up to 75 passengers at a time.
When it comes to safety, Bundhaya takes it seriously (unlike a few other companies which we are not naming here). They ensure that there are enough life jackets on board for every single passenger. So, you can rest assured knowing that the trip will be safe. Also, their drivers are experienced and care about passengers safety (no overspeeding or overloading the boats).
The international Koh Lipe – Langkawi route is covered by a larger ferry.
Bundhaya Speed Boat FAQs
How do I book Bundhaya Speed Boat tickets?
There are a few ways to book the tickets – book them online or buy them at the pier before the departure. However, the second opinion is very risky, because these routes usually sell out long before the trip. We recommend booking them online at least a few weeks before the planned trip.
Can we purchase our tickets at the pier ?
Yes, you can, but we can’t guarantee seat availability. If you have already made a hotel reservation, it’s better to book ferry seats right away too.
What is the luggage allowance?
Luggage allowance is 1 item per passenger, under 30 kgs.
How do I board my boat ?
First of all, you will receive ticket purchase confirmation in your email. Bring it along with you. For domestic routes, passengers have to check in at least 30 minutes before departure. However, for international routes between Koh Lipe and Langkawi (Malaysia), passengers must check in at least 2 hours before boat departure.
Once you arrive at the departure pier, look for the personnel of the boat you are traveling on. Present them with your confirmation ticket, and they will provide you with a sticker and/or boarding pass. They will guide you to your boat, where you’ll find staff members who help with luggage and boarding. Boarding process is usually well organized, and they place different color luggage tags on bags depending on where you’re traveling.
Is the Bundhaya Speed Boat safe?
Yes, Bundhaya Speed Boat is a certified operator recognized by the Marine Department. This certification means that they adhere to all safety regulations and standards mandated by the Thai authorities. They always have life jackets available for every passenger. Make sure you wear it for the whole duration of the trip.
How modern are Bundhaya Speed Boat’s vessels?
Bundhaya Speed Boat operates relatively new speed boats and ferries (<15 years old).

Tips for Passengers Traveling with Bundhaya Speed Boat
- Check Wind Speed: Before booking your speed boat, check the wind speed for the day. High winds can make the journey very bumpy, leading to seasickness. If it’s windy, choose a ferry instead for a smooth ride.
- Bring Noise-Canceling Headphones: Bundhaya speed boats travel at around 55 km per hour and can be very noisy. Bring noise-canceling headphones to block out the engine noise.
- Avoid Sitting in the Bow: Sitting in the bow of the speedboat is unsafe and not allowed. It has the best views, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
- Prepare for Seasickness: Research how to prepare for sea sickness before your trip. Get some earplugs, apply pressure to wrist pressure points, or take medication. Bring plastic bags and wet wipes in case you do feel seasick to help manage the symptoms.
- Be Prepared for Basic Toilet Facilities: Keep in mind that the toilet facilities on the Langkawi ferry may not meet Western standards. They typically consist of a hole in the floor, so be prepared for a basic restroom.
