Koh Chang is one of the largest Thai islands located in the Gulf of Thailand east of the country. It is known for its pristine beaches, lush jungles, and captivating scenery. But there is one hidden gem that many visitors don’t know about – some of the most spectacular waterfalls on the island! October to late December is the best time to explore waterfalls in Koh Chang because that’s when they have the most water. it’s important to note that from 1st June to 31st August, most of the waterfalls on this beautiful Thai island are closed or made inaccessible, so plan accordingly if you’re visiting during those months.

Klong Nonsi

Klong Nonsi waterfall in Koh Chang is a hidden gem nestled in the northeastern part of the island, free to visit and accessible to anyone. With plenty of water flowing through December, visitors are welcome to take a dip in the natural pools while they admire the surrounding fish swimming by.

The waterfall has 4 tiers (levels). Young kids can make it to the second level easily enough, but getting to the upper two requires some effort. You need to be fit enough for a solid climb, and sturdier sneakers than flip-flops might be in order. Once you reach the upper levels, however, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the forest and water that cascade down the rocky cliffs. It’s an unforgettable experience!

Getting here is a breeze with its paved access road offering easy parking just steps away from the site; it’s a wonder that this place isn’t too busy even during weekends. Kai Bae

Kai Bae Waterfall Ko Chang

Location: Kai Bae Beach, Tambon Ko Chang, Ko Chang District, Trat 23170, Thailand

This waterfall is located in the western part of the island. It is located on private land, but you can still park there and access the waterfall for a small fee of 40 THB per person.

Hiking to the Kai Bae Waterfall in Koh Chang is an incredible experience, made even more amazing if you come prepared. To ensure you have a safe and enjoyable time, you’ll need suitable shoes and pants that are okay to get wet. Be sure to also bring mosquito spray and watch out for slippery spots during or after rain.

Unfortunately, the trekking route to the waterfall can be dangerous at times. If kids or elderly people are coming along it is important to note that some parts of the trail require climbing with a rope, so everyone should make sure they’re comfortable with this before starting out.

Coming here by motorbike can make the ride easier as it opens up parking opportunities in the villages. After trekking for around 20 minutes from the parking you will be rewarded by finding yourself at the base of the waterfall where you not only can swim in the pool but also find very small fishies that make for an amazing photo opportunity.



Klong Phlu

Klong Phlu Waterfall in Koh Chang is a beautiful and stunning sight to behold. Its’ the most visited waterfall in Koh Chang, and for a few good reasons. It requires a 200 Baht entrance fee (40 Baht for Thai) to visit, with parking (motorbike) costing 10 Baht and car costing 20 Baht.

It is open every day from 8 AM to 4:30 PM and it is recommended to visit the waterfall early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

After walking 500 meters along a track that passes through beautiful forest scenery and a brief overlook of the river, you will reach the waterfall.

Once at the bottom of the falls, visitors can swim in the pond at its base and watch lots of Pluang fish that inhabit this area.

To protect the environment and noise pollution levels, no plastic is allowed on site – if caught with any, it will be asked to be disposed of properly. This excursion isn’t suitable for young children below 5 years of age or persons with knee problems due to uneven paths and slippery rocks so adequate preparation and caution before attempting should be taken. All in all, Klong Phlu Waterfall is a great way to spend an exciting outdoorsy day in Koh Chang!

Than Ma Yom

The drive to the waterfall is from the same Rural road as the Klong Nonsi waterfall, a bit to the south.

Than Mayom Waterfall in Koh Chang is an impressive sight, with seven basins cascading down into a stunning pool. Be warned – while it may look inviting and peaceful you’re only legally allowed to swim in the bottom two basins here as the upper ones are too deep and dangerous. Security is on-hand to stop anyone from entering deeper waters so it’s better to err on the side of caution! The waterfall can be reached by a 10-minute walk not too far from the parking lot, but at one point you’ll have to cross a small river that can be quite slippery and reach your knees in depth. If needed, there’s also a rope for extra support.



Entry fees for foreigners are 200 baht and for Thais only 40 baht. However it may not be recommended during the dry season when rainfall is at its lowest – while still beautiful, you may feel like it’s not worth the cost. If you have visited Klong Phlu earlier in the day, you can avoid paying an entrance fee since they are part of one National Park.

It has a special cultural relevance due to the fact that two Thai Kings— Rama V and Rama VI, who visited it in times past—carved their names onto the rocks themselves! Today, for this reason as well as its stunningly crystal-clear waters and lush green surroundings, Than Mayom Waterfall is a popular spot for tour groups.

Klong Neung

This pretty waterfall is located in the south of Koh Chang island.

Take a journey to Klong Neung Waterfall and immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of Koh Chang. It is a lesser-known waterfall and few people have made the effort to climb there, so you’ll be far from the crowds, surrounded only by wild surroundings. To get to the waterfall, you have to climb the river for around 20 minutes. Those who make it will be rewarded with a deep pool below the rushing water and an escape from the hustle and bustle of commercial attractions.

To get there, two people can help each other along the way, so it’s best to come prepared with a partner. The path is overgrown by jungle, so bring your knives along for good measure. If you manage to make it through all these challenges, bask in the peace that comes with an exclusive view – one of nature at its finest.

Khiri Phet

Located just a few hundred meters away from the Klong Neung, Khiri Phet is a very popular spot. We recommend visiting it early in the morning before the crowds get here.

Khiri Phet Waterfall, located on Koh Chang, is a stunning scenic destination. The waterfall is accessible by steep tracking from the parking: the tarmac road ends at a small parking area where the path leads to the left, soon crossing over the river and transitioning into a field of tall grass that you have to follow to get there. After this thankfully short walk, you arrive at the rubber plantation and an easy walk flat alongside the river will bring you straight to it in about 10 minutes.

Best of all, this wonderful experience is free – no entrance fee is required. However, it is suggested you wear sturdy footwear and take anti-mosquitoes precautions for your own safety along this complicated path.

Once you get to the waterfall, you will be rewarded with a pleasant swim in a pool at the base of the waterfall.

Si Tho

Location: X8JG+WHC, Koh Chang Tai, Ko Chang District, Trat 23170, Thailand

Si Tho Waterfall is a beautiful hidden gem located in the south of Koh Chang that can only be experienced during the rainy season. There is a river to swim in, although the road to get to the waterfall site is quite dangerous and difficult. But, those brave enough to make it are rewarded with clear and clean water.

The best part is that Si Tho Waterfall has no entrance fee, so anyone can visit for free! Whether you come just to take pictures or also have a refreshing swim, Si Tho Waterfall makes for an excellent day trip from Koh Chang.

Khlong Chao Lueam Waterfall

Khlong Chao Lueam Waterfall is one of the lesser-explored waterfalls in Koh Chang, a hidden gem waiting to be discovered! A 500m hike from the start of the tracking will bring you to a grand waterfall where you can see the beauty around, with crystal clear and cool water perfect for swimming. It may be quite slippery in some places so it is important to wear proper shoes.

There is an entrance fee of 40 THB per person which is definitely worth it since there are many levels to the waterfall and you can climb them if you wish. The water level may not be as high during the dry season but nevertheless, you’ll still be able to appreciate its beauty and have a refreshing time. Little fish also thrive in this tranquil environment making it even more enjoyable.



We don’t recommend bringing small children, as there are certain areas that could pose a risk.

There are a few smaller waterfalls in Koch Chang, but they are either hard to access or are not worth the trip through the jungle.
