Bangkok to Koh Chang Travel Options
There are a few options to get from Bangkok to Koh Chang. The first one is to take a bus from Bangkok to Trat province. Once you’re in Trat, you’ll need to take a ferry from there to Koh Chang. The whole trip will take around 7 hours and cost you anywhere from 900-1200 THB. Not too shabby! You can also go by minibus. This option is similar to the first one, except that you’ll be taking a minibus instead of a regular large bus. Taking a minibus will shave some time off of your journey (around 30 minutes or so), but it’ll also cost you a bit more money. Expect to pay 650-850 THB for this option.
If you’re looking for a faster (and more expensive) way to get from Bangkok to Koh Chang, then this is the option for you. Taking a taxi straight to the ferry terminal will get you there in around 5 hours and cost 3950 THB at the very least. Ouch! But hey, sometimes you’ve just gotta spoilt yourself, right?
Technically speaking, there are no direct flights from Bangkok to Koh Chang. However, you can fly from Bangkok to Trat province and then take a ferry from there. The first step is to catch a bus from Bangkok to the town of Trat, which is located on the east coast of Thailand near the Cambodian border. Buses depart from Khao San Boonsiri in Bangkok at 5:00 am and take approximately 5 hours to reach Trat. The journey is comfortable and air-conditioned. After that, you’ll take a ferry from Trat to Koh Chang. The crossing takes about half an hour, during which time you can sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning views of the Gulf of Thailand.
After that, you’ll be dropped off right at your hotel in Koh Chang, making things nice and easy.

One option is to take a minibus + ferry. Suwarnphum Burapha offers minibusses that depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok and arrive at Haad Sai Khao, Koh Chang. The prices for the whole trip start at THB 650. One hand-carry luggage and one suitcase (less than 20 kg) per person are allowed on the bus. The bus makes enough stops to go to the toilet and get drinks and food. The bus arrives at Haad Sai Khao, Koh Chang.
Transfer to the hotel is not ordered apriori, but we suggest contacting the company in advance (when booking) and providing the address of your final destination. This way, the bus will take you to the hotel in Koh Chang. Buses depart from Bangkok daily at 7 am and 11 am.

Bangkok to Koh Chang by Taxi + Ferry

The easiest way to travel between Bangkok and Koh Chang is by taxi + ferry. This option is the fastest, taking only 6 hours, and it is also relatively affordable if you share it among a few people, with fares starting at THB 3950. There are many reputable taxi companies that offer this service, including Glassflower, BangkokTaxi24, MCC VAN, and Thailand Limo by Datum.
A taxi will take you from Bangkok (the location of your choice) to the ferry, and then the same car will take you to your hotel in Koh Chang. Taxies are air-conditioned and comfortable, making them a great option for travelers who want to arrive at their destination quickly and without any hassle.

Bangkok to Koh Chang by Flight (to Trat)

The quickest method to get from Bangkok to Koh Chang is to fly to Trat and then take the ferry from there. Only Bangkok Air flies this route. There are two daily departures.
Flights depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) at 11:40 and 15:00 and take around an hour to arrive to Trat Airport (TDX). Generally, one-way plane tickets start at roughly 3000 Thai Baht. We advise you to plan ahead to save money on your ticket.
You’ll need to take a transfer from the airport to the pier in order to get the ferry that will take you to Koh Chang.
Luckily, there are minibusses that depart from the airport and head straight to Koh Chang. The one-way fare is 500 THB ($13.50), while the round trip is 900 THB.
