Klong Prao Beach Koh Chang
If you’re looking for a peaceful island getaway, then Klong Prao beach in Koh Chang is the perfect destination. Klong Prao Beach is the longest beach in Koh Chang. It is crescent-shaped and extends for around five kilometers. It is divided only where a couple of streams flow out via lagoons and these are all shallow enough to wade through.
There are several offshore islands that add to the attractiveness of the view and, as you would expect, the obligatory palm trees are all over the place. The group of hotels, restaurants and shops at the northern end of Klong Prao beach form an area known as Chai Chet.
Here, you can relax and unwind in the sunshine and enjoy plenty of outdoor activities. Let’s explore why Klong Prao beach is a top spot for travelers looking to relax and have fun!
Klong Prao: Koh Chang’s Longest Beach
The main road at Klong Prao is a lot farther from the beach, generally, 300-400 meters, than elsewhere on the west coast of Koh Chang, and the large expanse of flat land that lies between the beach and the mountains means that Klong Prao village is large and quite spread out. Since there is a lot of land that hasn’t been put to use yet Klong Prao feels quite open and spacious and, of course, this leaves lots of potential for future development.
Klong Prao village is clustered around Wat Klong Prao which is one of the island’s largest Buddhist temples. Namtok Klong Plu or Klong Plu Waterfall lies a couple of kilometers up a side road that is located about a kilometer north of Klong Prao village. Elephants are also a common sight around Klong Prao since no less than four of Koh Chang’s elephant trekking companies are based in the Klong Prao valley.
The beach is home to a number of Koh Chang’s four and five-star resorts but there are still a few budget accommodation establishments scattered amongst them. There is a multitude of eating and drinking options on the road through Klong Prao as well as all kinds of amenities and tourist facilities. We have selected some of the best accommodation and entertainment options to help you to enjoy your stay at Klong Prao.
Klong Prao Beach Restaurants
Klong Prao Beach offers diners a range of high-quality eateries serving authentic Western cuisine from around the world as well as interesting Thai and Asian-fusion fare. The area around Klong Prao beach is filled with shops selling everything from souvenirs to snacks as well as restaurants serving up delicious seafood dishes and local street food such as pad thai and som tam (papaya salad). There are also several bars near the beach where you can enjoy cocktails while watching the sunset over the ocean.

About Chai Chet Area
Chai Chet is the name given to the group of resorts, restaurants, and shops at the far north end of Klong Prao beach. It has developed as a separate area simply because Klong Prao beach is so long. Chai Chet is protected by a striking rocky cape that is worth a visit to see some great views and photos of the Klong Prao bay.
A stream meets the sea just below this cape and fishing boats moor up here in the shelter of the river mouth. Below this river is one of the best stretches of beach on the island and there are some notable resorts and facilities located here.
